An audio loop uses electromagnetic waves for the transmission of sound. The sound from an amplifier is directed into a wire loop surrounding the seating area (or worn on the listener’s neck) which broadcasts to a telecoil that serves as a receiver. Hearing aids without a T-switch to activate a telecoil can use a special induction receiver to pick up the sound. Audio induction loop system is also called a hearing loop. They are an assistive listening technology which helps people who have a slight hearing problem. It consists of a cable which is installed within an area or a room for people to hear better. The cable generates a magnetic field which transmits sound. The way it works is that it stops other sound beside the sound of interest from interrupting a persons hearing. These audio loops are usually installed in concert halls, public buildings with a high traffic range, places of worship, auditoriums, homes etc.In the United Kingdom, these audio loops are also installed in taxis. Hearing loops systems require a lot of financial investment. It takes a lot of money to install it, among all of the other things whihc are needed to be done when building a building. However it is still needed to be done because it offers a greater convenience for people with this kind of disability. There is an alternative which is used in theaters primarily. The alternative is that they use infrared radiation.
